Dr. JOhn Vincent
Dr. John Vincent is a Professor of Sport Management in the Department of Human Nutrition and Hospitality Management. Dr. Vincent has extensive experience in youth and high school sports, university recreation, and intercollegiate athletics. He teaches sport management, sport sociology, and sport marketing courses.
Dr. Vincent has published numerous scholarly articles and textbook chapters that have examined how newspaper narratives frame ideologies about national identity politics at major international sporting events such as the Olympic Games, the FIFA World Cup, and the Championships at Wimbledon. He has also published extensively about branding in the context of professional sports, intercollegiate athletics, and higher education. He has authored over 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and chapters in academic textbooks and his scholarship was recognized when he was selected for the University of Alabama 2014 College of Education McCrory Faculty Research Excellence Award and the University of Alabama 2015 President’s Faculty Research Award for Education. Dr. Vincent currently serves on two scholarly editorial boards: the International Journal of Sport Communication and Communication and Sport. He also serves as a guest reviewer for scholarly journals, as well as contributing his expertise as a committee member and an external examiner on numerous thesis and dissertations.
